WANTED: Arts Writers/Reviewers
(application deadline Tuesday 28th April 2015 at 12noon)
The National Association of Street Artists are looking for TWO Arts Writers/Reviewers to join our team as arts assessors investigating the power of constructive, critical reflection to help improve the quality of outdoor arts in the UK. These will be artists who write, but who may not see writing as their primary discipline.
Reframe The Streets is a constructively critical conversation which will consider a range of outdoor arts projects presented at three arts festivals over the summer of 2015. The two writers from different artistic backgrounds will watch or engage with the same pieces and begin in an online conversation about the work – discussing merits and how any perceived faults could be improved. We envisage that the unique position of the audience in outdoor work would be considered as part of such a discourse.
Artists from the arts festivals and elsewhere, as well as members of the public will be invited to join the conversation by submitting their reflections, which will be moderated before posting online. At the end of the summer, we will host a live conversation to discuss in which ways the project was helpful or unhelpful for artists and how we could improve on the project.
Who we are looking for:
Arts Writer A will have a good working understanding of the outdoor arts sector. They may be theatre or performance makers who have made work for the outdoor context, who have written a blog or who have some reviewing experience.
Arts Writer B may be from a more classical or formal theatre or performance background, who may have little or no experience of making performance for outdoor contexts, but who is interested in discovering more about outdoor arts practice. They will have written a blog or have some reviewing experience.
Applicants must be available for the following dates:
