Theatre Bristol Bulletin: 13th April 2017 (The Brainfood Edition)

aprilWe’re kicking off with massive congratulations to the quintet of Bristol artbods who have been awarded
Leverhulme scholarships from Ferment Bristol Old Vic: Malcolm Hamilton, Vanessa Kisuule, Rachael Clerkeand current Theatre Bristol folk Tanuja Amarasuriya and Laura Dannequin.

I expect as scholars they have to wear fancy hats and robes and do a lot of strokey-chin stuff. If you too long for a mortarboard and a year of learning, check out UWE’s brand spanking new MA/MFA in Creative Producing, on which Theatre Bristol is proud to be a partner. It may even help answer once and for all what a creative producer is.

aprilIf you want to expand your brain without going back to school, you might want to try Action Learning. It’s a brilliant way to work through your problems with peers. I’ve been in my set for 10 years now and I couldn’t do without it. Following a successful first year in partnership with Sarah Pym, we’re testing the water to see what appetite there would be for us to run another set from this September. If you’re interested do drop us a line through the link above.

For a more intensive experience, have a look at Caravan’s Introduction to International Touring Training Day. Run by theatre legend and excellent human Gary Hill, it’ll help you explore your international ambition, up to and including world domination. Or there’s practical performance training in individual and collective movement at The Flummery Room. Get your flum on.

Trinity’s IGNiTE residencies are a top opportunity for 2-way learning, as artist and community connect and share with each other. If you fancy studio space in this wonderful building, there’s still a week to apply.

aprilThere’s a rich old gumbo of theatre in this week’s pot to nourish head, heart and soul. Tales in the Attic has a family and adult version of their show at the Wardrobe, which sounds ripe for a took-nana-to-the-wrong-one scenario. Danish ensemble Out of Balanz bring their award winning, mortality defying Posthumous Works to Bristol, and Unfolding Theatre are Putting the Band Back Together at Trinity. Part riotous gig, part tender storytelling, this is a story about what it is like to find the music again.

<<<Bristol Artists On Tour>>>

You may have met the lovely Lucinka Eisler during her time as a TB Artist Support Associate. Her company Inspector Sands are at Soho with their beautifully crafted show The Lounge, so if you’re up in that there city do check it out.

aprilRachael Clerke and the Great While Males are also at Soho Cuncrete-ing, and Action Hero are about to head off on a trial run of Oh Europa! in Edi the motorhome.

We love bigging up the adventures of Bristol people so if you’re on tour and would like a shout out do let us know.

I’m off to hunt me an Easter Bunny…
