Theatre Bristol Bulletin: 15th September 2016 (the doing things differently edition)
So big news this week! The Bake off is moving to Channel Four, we’re just about to start using plastic £5 notes and Wales might change their school times. Things are a little bit different, but I think it’s good to have change sometimes, so this week’s newsletter is dedicated to doing things differently.
Firstly, why not book onto one of the many fab workshops and performances happening as part of Doing Things Differently this week. State of the Nation takes place tomorrow. On Saturday you can book in for a free BSL workshop and don’t miss Falling In Love With Frida on Saturday night. There are also free performances of Weighting by Extraordinary Bodies all weekend.
Never been on the stage? Here’s your chance. IBT are still looking for 45 people to represent Bristol in a new dance and theatre performance on the main stage of Bristol Old Vic. No performance experience needed. Anyone living in Bristol over 8 years old can audition.
Tobacco Factory Theatres are looking for companies and artists based in the South West to present new work as part of Prototype. If you’ve never taken part in a scratch night, now is the time. Try out that silent comedy opera you’ve been working on.
If you’re planning a theatre trip this week, you’ll be spoilt for choice. The Wonderful Wizard of Oz at Tobacco Factory Theatres, The Rivals at Bristol Old Vic and Eloise and the Cursed Whisk is back at The Wardrobe. Maybe go on a unicycle instead of a bike.
Finally, if you’re looking for a job that’s a little bit different, then we’ve got loads of great jobs listed on the TB site. Perhaps you would like to be a theatre technician, maybe a fun and enthusiastic children’s party entertainer or how about going to work for Create Gloucestershire as a fundraising development consultant or a freelance creative catalyst.
That’s it from me! Have a great weekend.
Sophie from TB
