Theatre Bristol Bulletin: 30th April 2015 (the Return to Sender edition)

jailhouseI’m writing this from my home-town, halfway through a short enforced absence from Bristol. This weekend, we’ve got an Elvis tribute act at our local venue. Here’s what I’m missing while I’m away…

First, some rumours regarding Theatre Bristol’s ongoing support for dance. Have no fear, the Jailhouse Rock will continue to be danced to if we have anything to do with it. Read more here.

dreamgardenAre You Lonesome Tonight? Go to the theatre, there’ll be loads of people there, not least the latest crop of talent from Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. Little One is on at the Tobacco Factory until 2nd May. Or check yourself out of the Heartbreak Hotel and into the Paradise Hotel instead, who are holding Dream Garden, another juicy looking event, this time at the RWA (left).

Ever feel that (Now And then There’s) A Fool Such As You? Head to the Wardrobe for Fooling Friday, you’ll be in great company .

Like music and journalism, the digital age has got the publishing All Shook Up too. As part of a fine looking programme over Blah’s Big Weekend at Bristol Old Vic, the first Talking Tea Party event brings together some suitably big wigs to discuss the future of the industry.

70sbuffetThe Flummery Room (a hit in ‘57 wasn’t it?) is also the name of a weekly workshop for actors, dancers, circus artists and others who would like to explore their movement language and performance interests. Go! Finally, nearby in Clevedon, a Big Hunk O’ Love for Theatre Shop’s continuing season of live performance: fish & chips, ice-cream on the pier, a lush old cinema, and loads of theatre and events, including a 70’s buffet (left); what’s not to love?
