Theatre Bristol Bulletin: 23 March 2017- (The BST edition!)
The clocks go forward on Sunday so its nearly officially spring! OK, technically it means you’ve lost an hour, so if you sleep in on Sunday there is even more guilt when you realise the actual time. But don’t worry, you get the hour back in October.
Anyway- its spring! Cue leaping lambs, fluffy chicks, daffodils and a sudden urge to wear flip flops, even though its still only about 12 degrees Celsius outside. Yes, we’re heading towards the Great British Summer, so starting as we mean to go on its chucking it with rain and only yesterday I was wearing a scarf. Still, we’re a country of optimists when it comes to the weather so I’m planning a BBQ for this weekend to celebrate the switch to BST. I’ll put a sausage on for you.
So first up this week is Testing Ground at Circomedia, which is happening TONIGHT! Come along at 7:30pm to see a whole bunch of work-in-progress showings from dancers and choreographers who want your feedback. It’s a pretty chillaxed, informal environment to see work and to support your fellow artists, so do come along. And at £3, it’s a total bargain! This edition features early works by Kip Johnson, Fiona Anderson, Vanhulle Dance Theatre and Tribe Dance Theatre.
Hannah Sullivan has a new one-on-one project called To Look To Draw starting on 2nd April. Based at Bristol’s Royal West Academy, Hannah invites you to join her in the gallery at a desk specially made for two people to draw each other. To Look To Draw is a simple occasion to notice the looking that drawing allows and the difference it makes. You will become a part of this evolving project, open to all experience. Booking is essential! You can reserve your 10 minute slot by visiting the link above.
What else is happening this week? Well, you can catch Sh!t Theatre with Letters to Windsor House at The Wardrobe Theatre opening other people’s post and struggling to make their rent until Saturday. (btw did you read that article about the other Windsor’s? Amazing.)
You can also see Alesandra Seutin/Vocab Dance Company for one night only on 25th at Trinity with Ceci N’est Pas Noire as part of their awesome IGNiTE programme. The spring season launched last Saturday with the legend that is Liz Aggiss’ Slap And Tickle. What a treat for Bristol theatre lovers over the next couple of months.
Want to see our pretty faces in person, instead of via the medium of email? Get yourself down to TB’s next Open Office , 5th April, 11-1. All are welcome.
Go eat loads of easter eggs,
Gemma for TB xx
