About Me
Whalley Range All Stars
Whalley Range All Stars was one of the UK’s leading street theatre companies. Our theatre shows combined visual art with performance to create vivid, entertaining productions for outdoor festivals and events.
Whalley Range All Stars was formed in 1982 by Artistic Directors, Edward Taylor and Sue Auty. The company has created 100 different shows, installations and events performing to hundreds of thousands of people in 23 countries over 5 continents.
In 2022 we performed our final gig in Whalley Range at the Carlton Club and celebrated with many invited friends and co-Stars. It was a fitting end to 40 years of touring outdoor theatre.
Our mission was to create theatre in places which are accessible to everyone therefore we worked outdoors ( most of the time!). We brought a fresh, funny and fearless approach to street theatre.
Edward and Sue have not retired but are busy with new individual projects. Sue is Director of Baby Boo at Horse + Bamboo and Edward is busy drawing and publishing graphic novels.
Project
A new participatory installation ( okay it’s a maze ) from the Whalley Range All Stars.
A model town set in the form of a maze. The buildings are slightly too big or wide to clamber over. The streets will be wide enough for wheelchair users to participate.
The audience are given Godzilla puppets on poles to carry. The puppets will have arms that can be moved so that the audience become puppeteers.
Great fun to do and hilarious to watch as Godzillas blunder through the city trying to find the way out!
